From the same Peterking College of Music that produced the likes of Lagbaja and Asa among others, there emanates another great act. This gentleman refers to himself as a mere music wanna-be star, but his music speaks otherwise for him.
Skai is definitely one to watch out for in 2012. Naija Whistle’s Dashing Debola talked to the soon to be Legend, about his musical career and boy! Did we get a great response?

Can we meet you please?
Well, I am Skai, a music star wanna-be and a singer/songwriter. For my real names, I'd love to save you the rigor of trying to memorize names so unimportant like mine. *winks*

Skai, how did you get the name?
This is actually one dull story I think I have over told...are you really sure you want me to bore you? *laughs*
Anyway, the name "Skai" came from "Skylolo", a name I was being called from my pre-primary school to the university days. I was told that as a child, I used to be a great fan of the wrestler Skylolo. According to my elderly ones, I was so obsessed about this guy that it became too obvious and people started calling me his name (Skylolo). And so it began that I got used to the name, in fact I thought it was my real name. My dad still calls me that actually.

So do you play any instruments?
*sighs* I make some noise with my guitar but I'd rather not call myself a guitarist. Also I can play the piano as a producer but far from being good enough to be tagged a pianist.

How would you define your music to the public audience?
Really, apart from saying that I sing Soul, R&B, Pop and soft/alternative rock, I wouldn't want to sound like a preacher at all."I don't like talking like I sabi pass all like 2face would say".
I believe there are music critics and review writers out there who know more than
I can ever get to know about music. Let the public do the justice. My single is out, feel free to download, dissect and send your opinions.

Where do you see yourself and your music in the next five years?
One of my newly adopted principles is "growth". In the next five years I hope to have grown into a better personality in terms of mental, physical, Financial and spiritual development. And for my music, I hope my music brand would become a household name in many homes across the world. Laughs* I wish.

Tell us about your educational background
Hmm how do we kill Ali Baba ooo?Let me cut it short. I had my primary and secondary school education here in Lagos, moved on to Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ogun State where I studied mass communication and graduated in 2008. Presently, I am a student at Peterkings College of Music, Lagos, just trying to grow. *winks*
When did you start music?
This has always been a tough question for me to answer because I am not really sure if I have started music at all from the way things are, but if you are talking about singing, I sang well even as a child, I performed at various local shows until my second year in the university when I decided to channel more of the energy towards music production. But as for starting music as a career, I'd say am just about to start in 2012 and I believe that with God's grace and the help of beautiful people like you, all will be well.

Who are your favourite artistes?
Although I'm a fan of every good singers, but I'll always have an exceptional affinity for a selected few like Asa, Lionel Richie, D'Angelo, Bruno Mars, Ceelo Green, Lemar, Darey, Tuface, Adele, Daniel Bedingfield, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill and the list goes on.
Are you currently signed to any record label?
Uhm...the answer is Yes and No."Yes" in that I am currently under an arrangement with Rhythm&Mix music production company and "No" in the sense that our arrangement is open to accepting better offers. Can we change the topic pls? *scratches head*
So, what are we expecting from you in 2012?
*smiles* Well, the year will meet us well by God's grace. If things work fine, there should be an album from me by September, but before then I'd be releasing a single in every 3 months.

Well, it's been wonderful talking to you, Skai, we hope to see more of you in the years to come. Do you have one or two words for your fans at home?
Yeah sure, all I have to say is that you guys are the real stars and I am just a super fan of yours . I'd try my best never to let you down, May God help us 4gether. One love!

Listen to Durella's new song with Femi Kuti. Durella was among the artistes on Jahbless’s “Jo O” remix where the likes of Eldee, Ruggedman, Ice Prince and a host of others joked about unlikely events to occur in this world.
Durella and Femi Kuti, Fela’s son have finally put together an unlikely collaboration titled "Back to sender".
Both musicians are not in the same genre of music. While Femi Kuti is based in Europe
and America and does the Fela styled Afrobeats, Durella is based in Nigeria and does the normal Nigerian sound. Download HERE
