Timi Dakolo, winner of the first ever West African Idol finally released his long awaited album titled Beautiful noise.
The album contains 11 songs plus an intro in Timi Dakolo’s native Bayelsa language. Timi proves himself as a prolific song writer with deep and reflective content filled lyrics on every song.
He moves away from the everyday Nigerian song and brings in a blend of American gospel and contemporary love songs rendered with a smooth voice and nice delivery.
“Let it shine”, the second track off the album tells the usual sad story of
growing up with a poor background and having shoes without laces.
Other Beautiful collaborations on the album include my favourite “Heaven Please” with MI who put a nice flow on the beat. The song sees Timi and MI wondering aloud to the heavens and praying for a chance to speak their minds to the girl they love in the hope she’ll listen.
“Is it over is another collaboration with Joan EKpai which is similar to Akon’s “Never took the time”. It’s a soul touching one.
A Nigerian musical album is incomplete without a party song and so Timi teamed up with producer Cobhams Asuquo in “Raise the roof” which saw Cobhams rapping.
“So beautiful” is a collaboration with Elvis Larri which has an African dance rhythm showing Timi singing in Yoruba.
“There’s a cry” is an emotional song and has a nice orchestral beginning plus a nice touch of a real human cry. The song talks about the many things that do not go right in the society.
I love you remix features Chocolate city’s producer Jesse Jagz who has a similar song he did with Brymo on his own album. Jesse Jagz delivered excellently in both the first and third verses of the song.
On the overall, Timi Dakolo’s Beautiful noise album is rated a 4 star album.
The West African Idols has also produced musicians who are doing well in the Nigerian entertainment and music scene like Omawumi.
