Kogi State is indeed a home of Nigeria’s finest celebrities. This declaration was made years ago when the likes of Mercy Johnson, Jumai Joseph and Halimat Abubakar were discovered. Now, here comes another diva from the state who is striving to pave her way to the top in the industry. Lady Tonia popularly known as Ohunene came to the notice of Naijawhistle.com at the recently held of the Abuja International Films Festival in Abuja, where she came to rub minds with top Nollywood practitioners. She really proved to the industry practitioners that they have a sect in Ebiraland.
In our recent chat with her, she told us all she wants is
to be successful. She went further to explain that for her to be successful, she could not do away with criticism.
“Criticism may sometime not be agreeable, but it is very necessary in the work of modern art. I have no negative feeling against the people that criticize me. One thing I want people to know is that I am a normal human-being just like everyone else who is prone to make mistakes.
The only way to avoid criticism is to stop doing something. I would rather do something and be attacked by critics than to stop doing something and remain unnoticed. Oftentimes, I find love in criticism. Those who criticize me are those who are in love with me in disguise, and I love every one of them because I see criticism as information that helps me grow.”
