Every film maker has a defining title for their movies. For a reputable film maker in Ebiraland, Mr Calabash whose real name is Hon Mohammed Abdulrahaman Ismaila Obansa (Hon MARIO), has a peculiar choice of titles for his movies with no doubt an aim to be globally recognized. His recent flick was titled in Ebira language as IRERU EWU. In his chat with Naijawhistle.com via telephone, he interpreted the meaning of IRERU EWU as
SNAKE BITE.
According to him: “the theme of the story is trust, affection, jealousy and betrayal. It is full of suspense that will surely make the viewers so engrossed to their seats to see what happens in every scene. It is a must watch in every home. It is very entertaining.
When asked if there was an actual  snake bite in the movie as the title reflects, he said: “no, there was nothing of such in the movie. The title is just like a metaphor, a statement not with its ordinary meaning but to make a striking effect. I have been into film making for the past fifteen years now. In every movie I have done, the titles don’t always tell the contents of the story. I am always very careful in my choice of titles.
On his plan for the year 2012, he said: I have a lot to do and unveil in the year 2012, and my people should be ready to watch more of my films. Next year, I hope to win more awards to my credit. Though, there are a number of film makers and as well as talented actors in Ebiraland who are willing so hard to explore their creativities. Entertainment in Ebiraland has taken a new dimension, and I believe that next year shall be the year of breakthrough for every one of us. Igbos are doing well; Hausas are doing well too; as well as the Yorubas and the Benins. By the grace of God, we the Ebiras shall do it.
