Kudirat's Murder: Al Mustapha To Die By Hanging

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha,the chief security officer and main hit man to the late Nigerian dictator, General Sanni Abacha   is to die by hanging for the murder of  Kudirat Abiola, the wife of late politician Chief M.K.O Abiola. Abiola  won the June 12, 1993 Nigerian Presidential elections but was denied victory by the then IBB military government. Almustapha was sentenced alongside an aide to the late M.K.O's wife Lateef Shofolahan who was an accomplice in the
crime.This is Nigeria's longest criminal case to be tried in a court of law and had a case span of 12 years and 5 different judges. It will be noted that Sanni Abacha took over government from Ibrahim Babangida after the "maradonna" decided to step aside. IBB who is in his 70s has recently said he will never seek for election in any political post in Nigeria again.
